On Resources
links + recs from the Gaza teach-in
According to Save the Children, Israel has murdered more Palestinian children in 21 days than have been killed in war GLOBALLY since 2019. It was against this backdrop that we gathered online to hear from Palestinian writers, novelists, thinkers, lawyers and advocates. Tareq Baconi, Isabella Hammad, Noura Erakat, Diana Buttu, Omar Barghouti and Ahmed Eldin all spoke at the teach-in on Gaza. Though I’m not able to share a full video from the teach-in, I want to share some small snippets. Isabella Hammad described what’s happening as ‘unspeakable and yet we must speak.’ I have included all the panelists’ books below as well as resources that were mentioned during the teach-in alongside more readings and podcasts for those who want to learn more. I wish I could have included snippets from everyone speaking on Saturday - but it was two hours long. I want to thank all of you who signed up, turned up, and came to listen. If you weren’t there, then I hope you find the below interesting. Please do take the time to read Tareq’s interview in the New Yorker (listed below) and follow Ahmed online as he shares important clips from journalists and doctors in Gaza.
Below is Omar Barghouti speaking on the importance of solidarity:
Noura Erakat answering a question on the ‘two-state’ solution:
And Diana Buttu answering a question on why Israel has blockaded and besieged Gaza:
