Our Future
Israel are the enemies of life
People’s ability to live in the world without it grazing them is quite extraordinary. As Europe is set ablaze again - this is now what happens every summer - by forest fires and flames, those who have sat silently during Israel’s holocaust of Gaza now want to talk about the earth. Suddenly, the environment is important.
Where were their sensitivities to the earth and environment when it was revealed that "the carbon footprint of the first 15 months of Israel’s war on Gaza will be greater than the annual planet-warming emissions of a hundred individual countries” by The Guardian?
Where were these people when Lebanon’s environment minister said that Israeli bombardment had “reshaped both the physical and ecological landscape” of southern Lebanon? In South Lebanon alone, Israel has destroyed 5,320 acres of orchards, 12,350 acres of forest cover, slaughtered livestock and poisoned the soil with phosphorus. They have targeted and killed environmentalists.
In Gaza they have destroyed 80% of Gaza’s agricultural land. From what hasn’t been completely burned and torched, only 5% of Gaza’s farmland is usable according to the UN. Israel are enemies of life, who haven’t they targeted and murdered? They have decimated 90% of Gaza’s livestock. I don’t know if these numbers mean anything to you.
They terrify me.
If you don’t feel the same, I want to know where you live - has it been unbearably hot? Has your city been hit by a heatwave? Have your elderly grandparents worried they would need urgent care and your small babies cried listlessly through the night?
What do you think the environmental impact of three years of non-stop bombardment across borders by Israel will do to our planet? We will all be victims of this terrorist state one way or another. If they don’t bomb your home, hospital, school or tent, they will burn the earth down slowly until there is only fire, only disaster. I am not a dramatic person. I don’t do hyperbole and I’m not an exaggerator.
This is the future that awaits all of us. You and I are recycling our plastic and separating paper from glass while the world’s only terrorist state drops the equivalent of seven Hiroshimas on the 41 sq km long Gaza Strip. That estimate is from 2025.
It was over a year ago that it was estimated that Israel dropped 100,000 tons of explosive on Gaza. Imagine what it is like to be a three year old child living through 100,000 tons of explosives dropped around you. You can’t imagine it. It is beyond us.
In the winter, children younger than my own froze to death from hypothermia in Gaza. All year round they die of Israel’s enforced starvation. In summer, the heat is so unbearable that the World Health Organization among others have said that children skin burns - it’s the lack of ventilation in the tents, the soaring heat, the lack of clean water. So, no, I’m not exaggerating and I’m not being an alarmist.
Israel is a terrorist state, this is the only way to describe a place whose founders belonged to terror groups like the Irgun and Haganah. They made their “state” through theft, terror attacks, and massacres. It’s not the “OnlY dEmoCRacieee in ThE MiddUl EaSt.” It’s the world’s first terrorist state, founded by terrorists and populated by them. Call them by their name.
A few book things:
I’m reading: Humza Yousaf’s Under Fire. It’s an important historical document and out soon.
I will never read: Joshua Cohen who was awarded a Pulitzer for The Netanyahus (barf emoji) and now has another book named after another Zionist dirtbag.
Children’s books we are really enjoying: When Mir was really tiny, like days old, I began reading to him. I read to him when I was pregnant but then I read him from what I was reading. When the books were serious, I edited out the bad bits. Eventually, I just read to him from a book of poetry by Pablo Neruda that had every poem in Spanish and English. I discovered these musical books that are annoyingly translated into so many languages but not really English.
It’s about a dog called Paco who takes us through Rock n Roll, Jazz, Blues, Disco, African and Latin music and classical. In English, he becomes Poppy and you can find Poppy and Mozart, Poppy and Vivaldi and Poppy Orchestra. All the fun ones aren’t in English but I don’t think it matters, the music is wonderful and you just invent the story as you go along or translate from context (more accurate than AI.)1
Everything is more accurate than AI. AI stinks.

I think about the daunting task of remediating soil and water systems in Gaza and southern Lebanon, both of which Israel (and the US, its chief enabler) have poisoned. It means the suffering will extend into the future.
Imagine being such a degenerate that the biggest problem you have with the slaughter of children is that their relatives might hate you for it.
